Events in Malcesine – Lake Garda

Malcesine is a medieval village on the lake's eastern shore, dominated by the Scaliger Castle and its cobbled streets running down to the harbour. Its views won over famous visitors including Goethe, arrested here in 1786 on suspicion of espionage after sketching the castle.

The panoramic cable car reaches the 1,760-metre peak of Monte Baldo in about twenty minutes, opening up hiking and paragliding in summer and ski slopes in winter; the weekly market is held on Saturdays. Spring and early autumn offer the most comfortable weather, avoiding both the winter cold at altitude and the summer crowds.
