Events in Gardone Riviera – Lake Garda
Gardone Riviera is known as the "garden of Garda" for its flower-filled parks, including the Heller botanical garden, home to more than two thousand plant species. In the upper part of town, Gardone Sopra, Gabriele D'Annunzio lived from 1921 until his death: his ideas shaped the Vittoriale degli Italiani, the residence-monument with the warship Puglia set into the greenery.
The Vittoriale's amphitheatre hosts the Festival del Vittoriale ("Tener-a-mente") every summer between late June and late July; the weekly market is held on Mondays. Spring, with the gardens in full bloom, remains the best time to visit.
