Lake Garda for couples

Lake Garda has long been a romantic destination: sunsets over the water, small villages, thermal baths and restaurants with a view. Sirmione, with its castle on the water, the Grotte di Catullo and the thermal baths, is the most popular stop for a weekend for two.

On the other shore, the Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera, tastings among the vineyards of Bardolino and the Valtenesi, and a boat trip at sunset round it out. Higher up, the Malcesine cable car climbs Monte Baldo for the widest view over the lake.

Thermal baths and spa. Aquaria in Sirmione and the Villa dei Cedri thermal park, both open in the evening.

Dinners and sunsets. Punta San Vigilio, the Gardone lakefront, the waterside restaurants of Salò and Bardolino.

Boat and views. Sunset cruises from Sirmione and Garda, the Monte Baldo cable car from Malcesine.

Wine. Tastings among the vineyards of Bardolino, Lugana and Valtenesi.

Common questions

Where is the most romantic spot on Lake Garda?

Sirmione is the classic choice: the peninsula, the castle on the water, the thermal baths and the Grotte di Catullo at sunset. Punta San Vigilio, near Garda, is a more secluded alternative.

Can you take a boat trip at sunset?

Yes. From Sirmione, Garda, Bardolino and other harbours there are 1-2 hour evening cruises built around the sunset, often with an aperitivo on board.
