Lake Garda on a rainy day

Lake Garda on a rainy day

When the weather doesn't cooperate, Lake Garda still has plenty to offer indoors. The thermal baths at Sirmione and the Villa dei Cedri thermal park in Lazise work in any weather, as does the SEA LIFE aquarium next to Gardaland.

Among villas and museums, Gabriele d'Annunzio's Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera and the MAG in Riva del Garda keep the rain off; wineries on the Verona shore and in the Valtenesi run tastings all year.

Thermal baths and pools. Aquaria in Sirmione and the Villa dei Cedri thermal park in Lazise: warm water even in winter.

Museums and villas. The Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera, the MAG in Riva del Garda, the Rocca in Lonato.

Aquariums and indoor nature. The SEA LIFE aquarium next to Gardaland, the covered gorge of the Varone waterfall.

Wineries. Bardolino, Lugana and Valtenesi tastings, nearly all bookable year-round.

Common questions

Can you visit the Grotte di Catullo in the rain?

The archaeological site is open-air, but the attached museum is covered. Light rain is manageable; in heavy weather the Vittoriale museum or the thermal baths are better bets.

Where is best on a rainy winter day?

The Villa dei Cedri thermal park in Lazise and Aquaria in Sirmione: the open-air thermal pools are at their best on cold, damp days, with steam rising off the water.
